WHY?!

Even in the most developed nations, innovation always travels far ahead of the government’s laws and the government always plays catch up. However, in a country where the policies and laws neither catch up nor give way for innovation to thrive, prosperity – a product of innovation will always be hard to come by. This is why Nigeria is still the poverty capital of the world and may remain so for the next three generations.

When JFK dropped out of Pharmacy School and crossed to major in political philosophy, his yearning for a way out of a badly governed society like ours ended at the door steps of technology and innovation. It’s why he has dedicated the last ten years of his career working with start-ups, consulting on innovation policy at the Federal Level and using advocacy to aggregate a new crop of leaders.

Today, more than any other time in the economic history of our country, the technology ecosystem needs a strong voice with political power in government. While the ecosystem continues to grow and thrive, in spite of the harsh policy environment and the policy somersaults, it can only be left to imagine where the ecosystem would be today with a policy environment that understands innovation, supports it with policies and goes all out to build systems with technology at its core.

Having being involved in technology policy formulation like the National ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship Vision, National Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Policy, National Research and Innovation Bill amongst a host of others, JFK is aspiring to be that voice with the power to not just educate other lawmakers and introduce legislation that supports the technology ecosystem but also oversee the executive’s policies and steps that might harm the growth of the ecosystem.

JFK’s vision is for Nigeria to be the foremost technology and innovation leader by the year 2050. The TIME IS NOW to begin engaging for the political power to make this shared vision a reality.
